Taken 2 - Sequel Pictures (2012)
It’s a hugely appealing thought that all the time Liam Neeson was making his very serious movies, such as Schindler’s List, he was daydreaming about smashing a faceless goon over the head with a serving tray. And hey, middle-aged action man dreams can come true – which is why Neeson will be seen soon in Taken 2, the first pictures from which have just been released.

Taken was, of course, the movie which established Neeson as a cinematic cranium-cracker of note, and having bagged ten times its budget at the global box office, a sequel always looked inevitable, even if an early rumour suggested Neeson might not reprise his starring role as the world’s toughest man with the world’s most boring name, Bryan Mills.

But Neeson is indeed back as Mills in Taken 2, and here’s what he has to say about the new movie:

Skyfall poster
Pah! Back in the day, Bond movie posters were kaleidoscopic cavalcades in two-dimensional form. Leggy ladies, bombastic explosions and maybe even the delicately cocked eyebrow of Roger Moore, those one-sheets of yesteryear had a chaotic charm sadly not found in modern 007 posters. Case in point: new Bond movie Skyfall, for which an adequately slick teaser poster has just been launched.

What relatively little we know about the story of Skyfall tells us that the past of M (played by Judi Dench) comes back to haunt her, with James Bond doubtless being needed to save the day. And let’s be honest, when the world’s most famous fictional secret agent steps in to help, he only ever offers three solutions: shoot it, shag it, or a bit of both.

Somehow Javier Bardem fits into the proceedings, playing a dastardly villain named Raoul Silva, although big name as he is in his own right, Bardem is absent from the new Skyfall poster (as, mercifully, is a certain beer brand tipped to play an intrusive role in the new movie, courtesy of a big money sponsorship deal).

Instead Daniel Craig as Bond takes sole centre-stage, staring back at us via a variant of the classic 007-down-the-barrel perspective. Hardly earth-shaking stuff, but it will likely keep the Bond fans sated till the debut teaser trailer is unveiled this coming Monday.

May is a month that seems to be filled with all sorts of holidays. From Mother’s Day to Memorial Day, Cinco de Mayo to May the 4th (Be With You), there seems to be something for just about everyone. But there are still more reasons to celebrate in May… like Circus Day on May 19!

Yes, it’s true! On May 19, everyone is encouraged to bring a little bit of the circus into their own world. But why the 19? Well, it all has to do with the Ringling Brothers, of course!

Whether or not you’ve had the chance to watch the elephants and trapeze artists for yourself, everyone knows the famous brothers who have become synonymous with the circus. And it was on May 19, 1884 that the famous Ringling Brothers Circus first opened their doors.

The circus was founded by five of the seven Ringling Brothers, Albert, Otto, Alfred, Charles and John, after seeing one unloaded from a steamboat. Prior to their first circus, the five would perform skits and routines in town halls throughout Wisconsin. In 1884, the first official circus took place in Baraboo, Wisconsin where a Historic Landmarker now stands. The main tent was just 45 by 90 feet wide and there was no band wagon or menagerie.

There are some big changed going on in The Wiggles’ World, namely the departure of three of the founding members.

Greg Page (The Yellow One), Murray Cook (The Red One), and Jeff Fatt (The Purple One) have all decided to take their bow and officially retire their coloured turtlenecks, taking a more “behind the scenes” role with the band. The only original member remaining with the group is Anthony Field (the blue one), and joining him is Lachlan Gillespie, Simon Pryce, and Emma Watkins. Watkins is set to replace Page’s character and will be the first female Wiggle in history.

Page, Cook, and Fatt are not the first Wiggles to have taken a bow. Before they really hit it big, they were accompanied by pianist Phillip Wilcher. When Wilcher decided to take a more backseat role in the band, the four remaining Wiggles subsequently recorded their next album without him. Another Wiggle was Sam Moran, who filled Page’s shoes when he had to leave for medical reasons. Moran was removed from the group when Page recovered and resumed his spot as the lead vocalist to the Wiggles.

There are a lot of big changes coming for the children’s band, and hopefully these changes will attract a whole new series of fans in the toddler world.

Tumblr, YouTube, Facebook, you name it; it seems you cannot go anywhere on the internet without hearing the reference of “Actual Cannibal Shia Labeouf” from some corner of the globe.

However, the reference has nothing to do with a new film role Shia’s booked for the upcoming year. It also has nothing to do with Shia’s personal dietary habits. Where the reference comes from actually
is from the delightfully twisted and hysterical new song written by songwriter Rob Cantor, entitled “Actual Cannibal Shia Labeouf”.

Originally posted on SoundCloud, Cantor’s little diddy tells the story of the listener getting lost in the woods, where they are attacked by actual cannibal Shia Labeouf. The listener then engages in a series of dramatic steps in an attempt to escape the woods safely. The song is absolutely hysterical, with just a touch of an absolutely frightening quality to really make the listener respond to the song, positively or negatively.

And trust me, there is no in between with this song.
